Equilibrium was written in spring of 2015, shortly after getting home from a long weekend in Chicago running sound for a Sci-Fi convention. I was thinking a lot about relationships past, and decided I wanted to write a concept album from the perspective of each side of a failing relationship. This song is about being open to new things, but ultimately coming back to what you know best: perseverance and skeptical optimism.
lyrics
I want to challenge you, I want you to feel the same way that I do. I want you to see the light in me I see in you. Do you? I want to bury you in love. I want to smother you. I want your mind to feel about me how I feel for you. Do you? Please tell me all about your dreams, and of your twisted fantasies. They'd be my lullaby. I'd sit and wait forever, without asking why. I'd take myself to task and leave myself put out to dry. Should I? I don't know. Now here I am, in the shadow of my former self. I try to do what I can, but I want something else. I tried it, I didn't fight it. I was tortured and lied to, but I won't deny it. I've gotta do right by me, so I think it's plain to see. Don't want to be anyone else, just want to be free, and try to find balance somehow. Patiently.
